more than 100 million users by the end of 1997.
Traffic
on the Internet has been doubling every 100 days since 1990. Some experts
project one billion people may be connected to the Internet by 2005.

number of registered Internet domain names has more than doubled to more than 1.5 million
by the end of 1997, up from 627,000 as of December 1996.
Jupiter Communications
projects that on-line advertising and direct marketing will grow from $1 billion in 1997
to $9 billion by 2002, representing approximately 5% of todays advertising
expenditures.

Research estimates that U.S. businesses will buy and sell $327 billion worth of goods over
The Internet by 2002. At $300 billion, Internet commerce will still only represent 3
percent of total GDP.
